• Walkerville Rotary Club 2025 begins

    We may be seen to be making a late start but we have not been idle. We were able to cater for the Walkerville Council Australia day Backyard BBQ (see link for details of the event with awards for citizens and event of the year and welcoming of 18 new Australians). The new citizens received a tree each supplied by the Walkerville Rotary Club.

    On Wednesday our guest speaker will be our new member Tanu Pareek who will give us some insight into her life in India and the transition to Australia. Following India through the information service provided by ET EnergyWorld we find that there is not much difference from the energy debate in Australia. Gas and Coal interests are all predicting bright futures while the wind and solar advocates and EV manufacturers equally predict a rapid transition. Unsurprisingly with a population of over 1 billion this is all done on a scale that dwarfs our expectations.

    Tanu will no doubt speak about a lot more than energy, including a promise to explain Viksit Bharat which we understand, encapsulates the national developmental ambition.

  • Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser

    Another Bunnings BBQ done and dusted. Ensuring we can meet our financial commitments which recently include;

    1. Supporting a young lady to attend National Youth Science Forum in January 2025.

    2. Funding a medical facility in Ethiopia through Ethiopiaid to assist women via Obstetric Fistula and FGM prevention.

    3. Providing awards to local Primary Schools in Walkervile to celebrate learning and reward development of literacy and numeracy.

    There is much more to come in 2025
